If you’re chasing a truly tranquil Florida nature escape — turquoise rivers, paddle-boards, manatees, and a cozy campsite to come home to — you can’t go wrong with Seven Sisters Campground in Homosassa, Florida (address: 8544 W Miss Maggie Dr, Homosassa, FL 34448). Seven Sisters Campground+1

Our trip there blended adventure and relaxation perfectly — and here’s why we can’t wait to go back.

Why We Fell in Love With It

🌊 Water, Wildlife & Wide-Open River Days

We launched our paddle boards right from the campground and glided through the crystal-clear waters of the Chassahowitzka River. The water was so clear, it felt like floating in glass. We saw manatees gently drifting by, fish leaping out of the river like they had somewhere to be, and even a family of river otters cracking open a crab for lunch — a magical reminder that we were sharing this space with wild Florida.

On the river banks and in the trees, turkey vultures kept a watchful eye, waiting for their chance at breakfast or dinner, and birds sang above us while Spanish moss hung from oaks, giving the feeling of stepping back into “Old Florida.”

If you love water adventures — kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, or just floating — this spot delivers.

Comfortable — Without Losing Nature’s Charm

Seven Sisters does a great job balancing “back-to-nature” with comfort. They offer waterfront RV sites and cozy cabins, as well as full hookups for RVs (30 or 50 amp), water, sewer — the works.

Inside the campground, you’ll find modern conveniences such as free high-speed WiFi, hot showers, air-conditioned private restrooms, a camp store, laundry facility, and even a boat launch, covered boat slips, and floating dock.

We especially appreciated the clean bathrooms and shower stalls — a big plus after a long day on the water. We also liked that there was enough open sky (with some trees around) for good stargazing and a relaxed, peaceful vibe.

Thoughtful Details & Great Customer Service

During our stay, we noticed how much the staff cares about guests’ comfort. They allowed us to have a package shipped to their office — then delivered it to our campsite. Having that kind of flexibility is gold when you’re on the road. Don't even get us started on how much they care for the campground, the staff even pickup are garbage from our site and consistently care for the grounds.

Also — when your own Starlink or cellular internet gets spotty, Seven Sisters has solid campground-wide WiFi, so you’re still connected if need be.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Bugs happen. On some days, chiggers and “no-see-ums” can be thick — so bring good bug spray. It was one of the only annoyances we experienced, but it’s nothing a little repellent and awareness won’t fix.

  • Go early (or on a weekday). For the best experience — especially if you want quiet and solitude on the river — we recommend launching at sunrise, especially on a weekend. If you go during the week, you’ll often have the place almost to yourself.

  • Respect the wildlife. We saw manatees, otters, birds, and fish — but we made sure to give them space. Admire from afar. Let the wildlife be wild.

What the Official Info Says — And Why It Matches Our Experience

  • Seven Sisters offers “Waterfront RV Sites, Studio Cabins, and Historic Hotel Rooms,” giving a range of options whether you're in an RV, a cabin, or a small group.

  • Their amenities list includes kayak (and paddleboard) rentals, boat launch, floating dock, covered boat slips, hot showers, private restrooms, WiFi, laundry, and a camp store.

  • With 620 feet of riverfront on their property, you get real water access — perfect for kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, or simply relaxing by the floating dock.

We can confirm: what they advertise is what you get.

Final Thoughts — We’ll Definitely Be Back

If you crave a mix of adventure, nature, and simple comfort — all tucked away on Florida’s Nature Coast — Seven Sisters Campground is a gem. We spent our days paddling the Chassahowitzka River, spotting manatees and otters, soaking up crystal-clear water, and unwinding under starlit skies. The campground’s thoughtful amenities and welcoming staff made our stay easy and relaxing, while the water access and wildlife kept it magical.

Would we come back? Absolutely. In fact — consider this our next home base on Old Florida’s wild rivers.

If you decide to stay here, tell them we sent you 😉 — and maybe we’ll bump into each other on the dock, paddle in hand, watching the manatees pass by.
